Regarding The Food Programme
27 April 2014
How on earth can the BBC do a programme about Jamaican/Caribbean food in Bristol and NOT even mention Turtle Bay? Even a cursory glance at Tripadvisor will tell you that this is a much-loved and very succesful Caribbean restaurant in the heart of Bristol city centre where Jamaican dishes (Jerk Chicken, Goat Curry, Rice & Peas, etc, etc) are the mainstay of a fantastic menu that spans the whole Caribbean. Approximately 2,500 people eat Carribbean food here every week, and that’s because of the restaurant’s reputation for amazing Caribbean cooking! The only conclusion can be that either the programme was not properly researched OR the presentation of “Jamaican food in Bristol” was partial/selective/disingenuous. Whichever of those two reasons is the case, it is shameful, and another terrible reflection on the BBC’s standards of journalism. At the end of the programme the presenter says he should “hand back his Food Lover’s Licence” for not having known anything about Caribbean food even though it is available right on his door-step! Perhaps he should hand-back his presenter’s badge as well.
We can’t wait for the opening of our new restaurant in Leamington Spa next week! We’ve got our exclusive launch party on the Thursday night with food, drink and live music and then open properly on Friday to everyone. If you want to see what all the excitement is about why not come and visit us next weekend. You can book a table online, by clicking here or by calling us on 01926 424 282. See you all there soon!
