Fancy a taste of Christmas on the Islands this year? This is how...

Christmas in the Caribbean is all about the feel-good party vibes. Like much of the world, the Caribbean holiday season celebrates with music, lights, food, gift giving and spending time with loved ones.

Fancy a taste of something different this year? Well, here’s a couple of ways you can get into the Caribbean Christmas swing of things…

  1. Get your loved ones together throughout the festive winter months. The pinnacle of Christmas in the Caribbean is spending time with the important people in your life – from the old colleague that you desperately need to catch up with, to your nearest and dearest relatives.
  2. Aromatic scents. Mention Christmas across the islands and it conjures up the aroma of Christmas cooking and baking (and of course spice-infused rums). Get your fix of cloves, month-long soaked rum cake, coconut bread and sorrel for true Caribbean Christmas aromas… it’ll be like you’re in the Caribbean.
  3. Have a warming and spicy rum or two! Is there really a better time to have a gold, sweet, spicy rum than during the cold winter months?
  4. Get involved with the sounds of the season – across the islands, it’s all about string bands and masquerades, jumpy seasonal calypsos and soca-inspired carols.
  5. Get decorating! If you travel to the Caribbean over the festive period, you’ll find vibrant decorative displays spreading colour, cheer and carnival vibes across the islands. Why not channel the bright and bold atmosphere in your own home?
